Anger, a Challenging Emotion

Anger is often a first response emotion for people who have experienced one or more often many, chronic traumatic experiences in their lives. It is intense and it can lead to us feeling uncomfortable, out of control, and later shameful of the actions that follow. If the anger is not handled appropriately it can lead to impulsive, often regretful actions, perhaps even violence. Ultimately it can lead to seriously disrupting or even ending relationships. Below are infographics that show what’s really going on in the brain and in the body when anger is triggered.
